A Smart Solution For Hair Loss
December 22, 2009
Daily hair loss is a perfectly naturally occurring event. 90% of our hair is in a growth phase; 10% in a resting phase which is lost every 2 or 3 months. Hair loss tends to get noticed when the loss is beyond the usual limit. These include: Why does hair loss take place? Alopecia areata: Causes rapid hair loss and affects men and women. Generally caused due to immunity disorder where the body’s own white blood cells attack the hair follicles. Alopecia Totalis happens with complete loss of scalp hair. Alopecia Universalis is a rare condition when the entire body hair is lost.

Genetic reasons: This causes 25% men to be affected by male pattern baldness by age 30. Male hormone testosterone could also be another contributing factor. Unhealthy hair is produced or hair production is stopped by Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) generated by the conversion of testosterone. Male pattern baldness is absent with men devoid of testosterone.
Skin diseases: this is a common reason for hair loss and it could affect the scalp too. Dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, scalp fungus such as ringworm and tinea captis are some of the common skin diseases which cause hair loss.
Sudden illness or fever: you can see large chunks of hair falling off after any serious illness or fever. This is however a temporary event.
Other causes of hair loss include: Childbirth, The Menopause, Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy and Age. There are other reasons for hair loss over and above these main ones.
Treating hair loss can be done successfully by which you not only stop hair fall but help in re-growth too. Some ways you could have natural hair loss treatments include:
1. Have plenty of vitamins A, B, C and E. These promote new hair growth. What is the importance of these vitamins? They not only provide sebum, they also help in increase of blood circulation to the scalp by absorbing more oxygen and collagen.
2. Importance of scalp care: Remember to massage your scalp regularly with herbal oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, amla oil. In conditions of alopecia areata, several oils are proven to be beneficial.
3. Avoid scalp abuse: Stop daily use of harmful chemical shampoos and blow drying. Hair and scalp get damaged by chemical treatments such as coloring and straightening. Even washing your hair daily with hot water will cause it to get stripped of natural oils and make it dry and brittle.
4. Using herbal care: Using powders of amla, shikakai, henna and ritha as shampoo and conditioner can be an effective treatment. One of the richest sources of natural vitamin C is amla powder, known for its anti-oxidant properties. It has a natural low pH. After this use henna as a natural conditioner.
5. Lead a stress free life: To do this, do exercises and meditation. Remember stress initiates hair loss. Quit the Cancer Stick: The nicotine blocks the blood passage to the scalp, reducing blood supply to this region. To avoid damage to the scalp avoid UV rays from sun exposure.
