Soma Pills For Muscle Relaxant
October 24, 2009
For many people who suffer with depression, it is often the case that they do this in silence but there are many professionals out there, ready and willing to assist. There are now a number of depression medications on the market which doctors can prescribe to help with the condition. Fortunately depression can now be cured, especially when diagnosed early and depressed individuals can actually be treated through therapy and medication, although it may be a bit costly. It is now understood that cognitive behavioral and interpersonal therapy can be very successful at helping sufferers of depression as they actually attack the root of the problem. Soma is a muscle relaxant used to relieve the pain and stiffness of muscle spasms and discomfort due to strain and sprain.
In a short space of time, sometimes as little as twenty weeks, the patient can start to see enormous positive progress in beating their condition. Before getting started on any medication, the patient must first get themselves to a reputable doctor; get a diagnosis of which type of depression they are suffering from: whether it is clinical, manic or another type. Your doctor will be able to recommend what type of treatment and depression medication required as they do differ considerably and no-one wants to make the situation worse. You would be amazed at the large number of medications now available to help with this condition.
The tricyclics are not as popular as the newer serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or the monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Unfortunately the tricyclics have more side-effects so tend not to be prescribed with the same frequency as the newer types. Often, the doctor will actually mix the medications if it will help the patient. If the doctor believes it will benefit the patient he will use as many of the drugs together as he believes necessary.
Despite the advances, it is still not an exact science and often the dosage may be increased or even lowered to suit the individual’s needs. The patients are warned however not to do this mix and matching on their own depression medication or to adjust their own levels but leave it to the professionals. The use of anti-anxiety and sedatives should not be used as the primary medication for a depressed individual. There are often occasions where these types of medications are given along with others to help offset other side-effects but should never be confused as the primary anti-depressant drugs.
Their purpose is to help calm the nerves, which is why depression medications are still required to be taken by the depression patient. The tricyclic drugs cause some common side-effects which are not generally seen to the same degree with other types of medication. Although the side effects can actually cause the sufferer to lose their ability to function in normal life, unless this happens, many users are happy to put up with the side-effects. A doctor would always recommend that the patient contact them immediately a situation like this occurs so another drug can be given that does not cause any side-effects.
