Natural Pain Relief

There probably isn’t a person on this planet that hasn’t suffered pain at some point and the reason we have this distasteful experience is as a defense against continuing a particular action; like a person who picks up something heavy and hurts their back, so the pain stops them from picking up anything else. Pain is used by doctors to assess the seriousness of some conditions and help locate the cause of a problem which in turn can assist the treatment. Normally once the cause of the pain is treated, the pain will gradually disappear but not always.

People in this situation are said to be suffering with ‘chronic pain’ which is a persistent feeling, the type that exists with back pain for example and unlike those of ‘acute pain’ which is intense but can be treated. Chronic pain afflicts millions of people and there is no way for you to be completely sure of preventing chronic pain as it can strike at any stage of your life, as a result of an accident or disease. To make matters worse, chronic pain often remains after the reason for it has been treated and cured by which time it becomes a condition all on its own and it can worsen over time.

The problem with prescription medication is that it is easy to become dependent and as time progresses the drugs become less effective but the dependence remains; or there are serious side effects to be considered and many are now turning towards natural pain relief treatments as long term alternatives. Acupuncture has been used as a form of natural pain relief and cure for many chronic conditions for over two thousand years. One natural pain relief treatment that has been used for many thousands of years is acupuncture. This method of pain relief has been used successfully in China and the East for many thousands of years.

Patients claim acupuncture has proven effective in treating ailments such as neck pain, migraine headaches, arthritic pain, and even depression. Other people have started using herbal remedies as a natural pain relief treatment because there is little chance of any adverse side effects causing further problems. For the reduction in arthritic pain, Emu oil can be used and people with scarring pain can try vitamin E; these are just two natural pain relief remedies of the many available.

Some people do not like using these herbal remedies, not because they do not provide enough relief but because they take longer to work; the plus side is that nothing synthetic is entering the system that can harm it. However, one of the best ways to avoid even the need for natural pain relief is to adapt your lifestyle by adopting a healthy diet with plenty of fruit, whole grains and vegetables, with a reduction in the consumption of processed foods. Take care to get enough sleep each night, and take time out of each day for exercise as even simple activities like taking the stairs at work or a walk around the block go a long way towards improving your health.
